~A good life is about priorities  

 

Yes, many things are valuable to have...but,

if you have your priorities reversed, as many of us do,

then life will be hard.

 

For example: we want our future to be good,

but if we sacrifice enjoying the process of getting there,

life will be hard.

 

If we prioritize enjoying the processes of life, and yes,

the results are still important,

then life will be easy.

 

Another example:

if we want to help others and for others to be happy with us,

but we sacrifice taking care of ourselves for others,

then our life will be hard.

 

If we prioritize taking care of ourselves, and yes,

taking care of others is still important,

then life will be easy.

First Things First: Or You’ll Be Cursed

Get your priorities just right, putting first things first,

If you’ve got the order wrong, you’ll always be cursed.

With so many good things in this life to pursue,

Cart-before-horse priorities put your life askew.

You dream of a future, a glorious place,

But you sacrifice joy if it becomes a rat race.

Flip it around, place the process number one in your queue,

Your goals are still there and results will easily ensue.

Yes, those results matter too, don’t toss them aside,

But it’s minute-by-hour where happiness abides.

When you cherish each step like each note in a song,

Life flows with an ease that lasts all the day long.

You want to help others, you give and you give,

But you sacrifice self, that's no real way to live.

Taking care of yourself is your own first concern,

Giving to the others when you have plenty to burn.

​

Yes, caring for others still matters, it's true,

But you can't pour from empty, so start out with you.

When you're whole and you're full, you’ll have more to share,

Life becomes easy when you lead with self-care.
