More Selfishness Means A Better World

They say that selfish is wrong, it’s a sin, it’s a shame,

But strip the moral baggage—self-interest is the game.

When thinking for the long-term, then win-win appears:

As you serve yourself more, you treat others more dear.

Viva la selfishness, the long-term which is kind,

The more selfish you are, the more others will find,

That caring for yourself includes giving to others,

Viva la selfishness—we’ll all have our druthers.

The short-term grabber stupidly burns bridges fast,

But those who think longer, then we all will surpass.

Even the most self-serving must charm and bestow,

For others keep on dealing where there’s value on show.

Take Bezos, called by many just a rich, greedy man,

Yet millions got their packages—a billion-dollar plan.

His wealth built on win-win; the results tell the tale,

While charity can run dry, his impacts won’t pale.

Viva la selfishness, the long-term which is kind,

The more selfish you are, the more others will find,

That caring for yourself includes giving to others,

Viva la selfishness—we’ll all have our druthers.

I coach some for free because I do coaching for me,

My cup is fullup—so I can give coaching for free.

No sacrifice for any—it’s mutual and it’s real,

A grounded selfishness, take-take’s the real deal.

Those books that damn selfishness attack a straw-man,

They shoot down the short-term, while the long-term can.

When long-term is included, everyone gets so much more—

Viva la selfishness, love and wealth more galore!

Viva la selfishness, the long-term which is kind,

The more selfish you are, the more others will find,

That caring for yourself includes giving to others,

Viva la selfishness—we’ll all have our druthers.
