10-Second Adventure

I thought I was open, warm to the core,
A friend to each stranger, who could ask more?
But smiles on the surface can still disguise
That quiet selectiveness behind my eyes.

A friend not yet met—a quote I thought true,
But most of the crowd, I simply passed through.
The few I would greet gave a nice illusion,
Those strangers ignored were still an exclusion.

Now I light up the world as I go,
One “Hi!” at a time, laughter flows.
Every glance a door, every step a chance—
New life begins with each new dance.

It started one morning, a man on a bench,
His words to himself in a private trench.
I smiled, said “hello”—no words came back,
Yet we felt a warmth where there had been lack.

Two kids by the lake with lines in hand,
They grinned right back and we felt grand.
We shared a dash of innocent fun,
Then I moved on, my heart undone.

A girl on her phone, lost deep in her play,
Her mom gave a smile as I knelt halfway.
An old woman beckoned with tickets to sell,
I bought and gifted “mom”—her heart then fell.

Now I light up the world as I go,
One “Hi!” at a time, and wonders flow.
Every glance is a door, every step a chance—
New life begins with each new dance.

Nine boys in a café, locked in their game,
Each face lit up by a digital flame.
I asked, they laughed—we shared a cheer,
Just seconds together, the joy was clear.

So now I’m so bold with little reserve,
With a spark of delight and a touch of nerve.
Each person responds to my debut—
And every “hello” makes me feel brand new.

Now I light up the world as I go,
One “Hi!” at a time, and wonders flow.
Every glance is a door, every step a chance—
New life begins with each new dance.
