Attachment

We often use the phrase "attached" to something or someone or an idea to mean that we are or would be frightened to lose that someone, something, or idea in our life, indicating that this attachment is something to avoid or that it indicates we have a problem.

Being frightened of losing something is not necessarily a problem. In fact, it can often be a good thing.

Attachment, as I use the word that indicates a problem, is when we are unwilling to embrace and be okay with the fear that we will lose something, someone, or an idea, thereby reducing our access to make better choices in our own self-interests.

For example, if we are attached to the idea that we must stay married "no matter what," then we will have little access to assessing the BeCoPoRiNNOO and choosing courage to make better choices accordingly.
