Some take-away quotes from June 20-22, 2025 in Ojai

I attended a 2.5-day event with Byron Katie in Ojai, California with about 100 other participants from around the world. Here are a few of her "quotes" that caught my ear.

"It's a privilege to be the dreamed."

"The first war to stop is the one with yourself."

"In the don't-know world, you're shown."

"A worksheet a day keeps stress away."

"Don't play small, don't play big, just play."

"You are never here now. You are here then."

"If you were thinking and believing what you were thinking and believing

at the moment you did, did you have a choice?"

"A life of self-inquiry will give you a life of curiosity."

"I never saw someone so happy to be wrong."

"No ego, no world."

"The ego has a right to live." (this one hit home for me)

Some other quotes from Byron Katie

“It’s not your job to like me — it’s mine.”

“When you argue with reality, you lose — but only 100% of the time.”

“The world is your perception of it. Inside and outside always match

— they’re reflections of each other. The world is a mirror image of your mind.”

“Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change

your experience; taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments

gives you the power to change them.”

“I am a lover of what is, not because I'm a spiritual person,

but because it hurts when I argue with reality.”

“You can’t have an argument with reality. Well, you can, but you’ll lose.”

“Everything happens for you, not to you.”

“All war begins on paper. You write your thoughts down, you question them,

and peace becomes possible.”

“The mind’s job is to validate what it believes.

It will look for proof of what it believes, and it will find it.”

“Who would you be without your story?”

“Forgiveness is realizing that what you thought happened, didn’t.”

“There are three kinds of business: mine, yours, and God’s.

Staying in your own business leads to peace.”

“Until you see the enemy as a friend, your work is not done.”

“Nothing comes ahead of its time,

and nothing ever happened that didn’t need to happen.”

“Happiness is the natural state for someone who knows that there's nothing to know.”
