Celebrating Ignorance
...after clicking play, consider turning on captions and full screen...
You chase the truth, but you must learn,
Some facts are none of your concern.
To know too much, oh what a cost!
Some kinds of “truth” will get you lost.
Stay blind where seeing steals your peace,
Let ignorance add to your feast.
Not knowing even gives you power—
So higher truths shine from that tower.
When knowledge takes more than it gives,
And doubt's the wiser way to live,
Move forward with a heart that's brave,
A doubt that voids so many graves.
And when you wait to feel “just right”
You’ll miss the train, you’ll miss your flight.
You’ll never know all you could know—
To win the games, it needs bravo!
You think you know, but often don’t,
Beliefs you think will serve, but won’t.
Those misbeliefs you thought you knew,
With open eyes you find weren't true.
Words like “should” or “lazy” bite,
They seem like truth, but that’s not right.
They hide a world that you don’t see,
Believing stories told to thee.
When biases disguise as thought,
What seems so clear may still be fraught.
So doubt the “obvious” you think real—
It’s not a fact just 'cause you feel.
And sometimes, news or tales you hear
Aren’t really good to reach your ear.
If no wise act will come from them,
Not knowing’s the perfect stratagem!
Stay blind where seeing steals your peace,
Let ignorance add to your feast.
Not knowing even gives you power—
So higher truths shine from that tower.
