We trust in our thoughts like they're carved into stone,
But most are just echoes so carelessly sown.
We label as true what pops in our head,
Never to ask how those thoughts have been bred.

Words like “fair” and “cruel” wear the mask of the clear,
But fall apart fast when examined up near.
Distinctions that sound like they’re built on the real
Vanish when asked what’s concealed and revealed.

Don’t trust what you think till you’ve vetted it well,
Not all that feels certain can truthfully dwell.
Speak with less swagger, ask more than you say—
Those unvetted thoughts will lead you astray.

A feeling of truth doesn’t prove it aligns
With evidence tracked through legitimate signs.
Conviction alone doesn't sharpen the claim—
Emotion can glow while your logic’s still lame.

“Should” often skips past the work to explain,
Presuming one outcome and dressing it plain.
But blame in disguise can arrive in that word—
Assessments get lost and judgments will blur.

We mimic the phrases we’ve heard in the stream,
Where sloppy feels normal and sharp feels extreme.
But trust in your thoughts needs doubt at the start—
Only give them a home if you can’t pull them apart.

Don’t trust what you think till you’ve vetted it well,
Not all that feels certain can truthfully dwell.
Speak with less swagger, ask more than you say—
Those unvetted thoughts will lead you astray.

I got it!
