Is Your Marriage In The Red?

...after clicking play, consider turning on captions and full screen...

“Just one more swipe, it couldn’t hurt,”
You’re wrong to think it doesn’t subvert.
Love doesn’t run on delay or deferral,
It breaks when we bank on it being eternal.

No overdrafting, don’t borrow from grace—
If it goes red, you’ve slapped love in the face.
A negative balance, it’s a code blue.
Fix it right now or surely you’ll rue.

She gave all she had, in silence and tears,
While he made withdrawals, “I’ll pay back in years.”
She held to “commitment,” he dodged every plea—
And now she is broke where her heart used to be.

A test you can take—no paper, it’s fun:
If love ended now, would you think you had won?
If not, that’s a sign you’ve broke the big rule
Always never ever to yourself to be cruel.

The accounts will go red when you fail to be brave,
When truth is withheld and you smile as you cave.
On balance you must win, to stay in the plus,
No silent resenting, it builds up the pus.

Keep selfish in sync, a partnership strong—
Each one fulfilled, no one dragged along.
If no such deal can be struck face to face,
Then courage says go—don’t rot in that place.

So look at your love, not in guilt, but with grace:
Are you grateful so far, a win you embrace?
If not, don't wait 'til your soul’s overdrawn—
End it or mend it, you’ll have a new dawn.

No overdrafting, don’t borrow from grace—
If it goes red, you’ve slapped love in the face.
A negative balance, it’s a code blue.
Fix it right now or surely you’ll rue.
