~I know many people who are lonely

Yet these people have many "friends" and colleagues

and family members around them.

They are lonely because they hide,

to make sure they are looking good,

from these people in their life.

They have not chosen the courage to remove

at least some of their mask.

And they complain about being lonely.

Lonely in Plain Sight

You say you are lonely, yet you’re surrounded by friends,

Because there’s something inside you that refuses to bend.

You've built up your mask and you wear it with care,

To look good to others so nothing's laid bare.

Lonely in plain sight, you hide from us all,

The real you stays hidden, you’ve built up that wall.

Drop just one layer, let one of us in,

The cure for your lonely must start from within.

Your colleagues and others, they might be right by your side,

But they only see the sides that you crafted with your pride.

You only show those sides of you so polished and neat,

A performance for others with no intimate treats.

Lonely in plain sight, you hide from us all,

The real you stays hidden, you’ve built up that wall.

Drop just one layer, let one of us in,

The cure for your lonely must start from within.

The courage you're not choosing is not big and not grand,

It's lifting your mask a bit, a little pride to disband.

To allow one of us to know what before was unknown,

You won’t be as lonely when more of you has been shown.

Lonely in plain sight, you hide from us all,

The real you stays hidden, you’ve built up that wall.

Drop just one layer, let one of us in,

The cure for your lonely must start from within.

I got it!
