Mental Habits: Set Your Alarm

We talk of physical habits, the ones we can see,

Yet mental ones shape how you're destined to be.

The thoughts that arise in each moment's condition,

You getting those right is joy’s price for admission.

When thoughts seem to sting, then you can step back,

That old habit whispers, "You're clearly off track."

You can swap out that thought, let curiosity arise:

"What's here I can learn?" — now you’re being quite wise.

Set that alarm, let it ring through the day,

A reminder or question to light up your way.

Ask the right questions, help the new thoughts begin,

Thought by thought new habits take root deep within.

Pick up your phone and choose times for the bell,

Three times or four — let those reminders compel.

Each ring prompts the question you're learning to keep,

Until your subconscious those new thoughts has reaped.

A month or so in, you'll start hearing it clear,

The questions arise without alarms in your ear.

Taper the rings as the habit takes hold,

And your subconscious turns those thoughts into gold

Set that alarm, let it ring through the day,

A reminder or question to light up your way.

Ask the right questions, help the new thoughts begin,

Thought by thought those new habits take root deep within.

Set that alarm, let it ring through the day,

A reminder or question to light up your way.

Ask the right questions, help the new thoughts begin,

Thought by thought those new habits take root deep within.

I got it!
