No Place To Stand In Shifting Sands

Someone speaks a careful claim,
For thoughts to guide a fruitful aim.
Yet others oft reply with ease,
“Just one more view among the seas.”

Like choosing flavors, light and sweet,
Vanilla, chocolate—no truth need meet.
But some ideas can say what’s real,
And guide in how your life will feel.

Not just another view to claim,
For thoughts must guide a fruitful aim.
Search for the truth so you will know,
Look for the false, then truth can grow.

When I assert that, “Care for you,
Is the first thing that you must do,”
Then some will nonchalantly say,
“That’s just one lens to see that way.”

Yet the paths you choose to trust
Shape the life you build from dust.
What you hold as true and wise
Can steer a course that you will prize.

Not just another view to claim,
For thoughts must guide a fruitful aim.
Search for the truth so you will know,
Look for the false, then truth can grow.

Saying that truth is just your taste
Gives you a life that’s been debased.
Though it feels safe to never weigh
What is false and what should stay?

Trade a small and passing fear
For a life that’s left unclear.
When no compass point is known,
Your every whim becomes a throne.

Beyond “I know” and “none can know,”
Lives a wiser way to go.
Ask what evidence appears,
Test those thoughts that first endeared.

Learn how to do as science is does,
Finding truths that aren’t just fuzz.
With ideas strong enough to stand
Surviving trials and living grand.

Not just another view to claim,
For thoughts must guide a fruitful aim.
Search for the truth so you will know,
Look for the false, then truth can grow.

I got it!
