Power of Owning it All

Two cars in a lane, speeding ahead,
Each driver with stubbornness filling their head.
“Get out of my way!” they yell through the night,
Neither will budge, both sure they are right.

The crash that ensues—tragic and grim,
Who’s at fault? The answer is slim:
Both held the power to alter their course,
Yet pride was the driver of their shared remorse.

How often in life do we stand the same ground,
Blaming another for what we have found?
In arguments, struggles, or stresses we claim,
"It's their fault, not mine!" we loudly proclaim.

But here's the good news—astonishingly true:
You hold the reins to the outcomes you rue.
By owning your role in the discord and strife,
You open the door to transforming your life.

"My job is too much! The pressure, the stress!"
You say it’s your boss or your workload's excess.
But pause for a moment—step back and review,
Could the way that you see it be part of this too?

Your lens, your mindset, your beliefs hold the key,
To undo the weight and to set yourself free.
If you just tell the truth and take charge of your fate,
You'll see that your stress starts to quickly abate.

We search for the cause in the world all around,
While the true source of power lies where it’s profound.
Inside our responses, our choices, what’s true,
Lies the ability to chart something new.

“For a man with shoes, the earth turns to leather,”
No need to demand that the world change its weather.
Adjust what you wear, how you step, how you stand,
And watch as your life shifts beneath your command.

Look over your life—find three places today,
Where external forces seem to hold sway.
See how the power was yours all along,
To steer things away from what seems to go wrong.

No longer the victim, you’re now in control,
The author, the driver, the one with the goal.
“Watch out, world! I’ve found the sun!”
Your new chapter starts—your power’s begun!
