Retirement At Twenty-Four

Retirement At Twenty-Four

At twenty-two, I found my stride,
With IBM I took a ride.
A master coder, quick to rise,
My talents swiftly recognized.

To LA they asked me to move,
I knew my life would not improve.
It’s time to be a freelancer,
I’ll choose those songs, I’m a dancer.

If you can live so work is play,
You’ll never work another day.
Design your life to fit your heart,
Retirement’s now, don’t wait to start.

A clever deal, my first great win,
With COBOL, quickly I begin.
Midnight oil and friends on call,
I met her deadline, standing tall.

My client smiled, the checks rolled in,
Three hours’ a day—and life was grand.
Just years of play, who needs the grind,
Both time and cash sweetly aligned.

If you can live so work is play,
You’ll never work another day.
Design your life to fit your heart,
Retirement’s now, don’t wait to start.

At forty-two, I made a switch.
Coaching’s the play that makes me rich.
At eighty-one, I’ll never stop
My “work,” it’s like my lollipop.

So ask yourself, and ask it true,
What life could you design for you?
The rules aren’t fixed—just find a way,
So that your work is how you play.

I got it!
