Savoring The Hunger

“Stay hungry, stay foolish,” so Steve Jobs has said,

“Hunger's the best sauce,” Cervantes’ idea was spread.

Let’s harbor these hungers as gifts to collect,

Not nurture their killers who think hunger’s suspect.

The House of Good and Bad is where hunger grows thin,

Where praise and blame smother those fires deep within.

You’re performing for others, both real and therein

Forsaking your own heart, drowned out by the din.

Our schools kill joy of learning, grades take its place,

Chasing after results, not loving the race.

Comparing yourself by the world's social gauge,

Hunger's stand-ins have filled up your own stage.

You wanted that new house, you get it, and then,

That longing desire never rises again.

So imagine losing the things that you now hold,

Keep hunger’s surprise, your desires not cuckold.

Stay hungry, stay edgy, collecting more zeal,

Adventure's the gift and the journey’s the deal.

Don't burn yourself out chasing a prize to the end,

The juice’s in the living, dancing round all those bends.

Design in the scarcity, draw out the feast,

Love missing each other, make your hunger a beast.

The magic dies quickly when desire’s in free fall,

Learn to relish that hunger and it will enthrall.

Prioritize the process, savoring each bit of the ride.

Shun those pyrrhic wins where hunger’s denied.

When you’re loving your work, you’ll enjoy all the best,

With juice in your journeys, with life you’re possessed.

Let’s learn to love hunger, never fully appeased,

The longing itself shows that life you have seized.

Not deficit, not lack, but your vibrant bright flame,

Relishing that hunger, it’s a part of your game.

Stay hungry, stay edgy, collecting more zeal,

Adventure's the gift and the journey’s the deal.

Don't burn yourself out chasing some prize to the end,

The juice’s in the living, dancing round all those bends.
