What my Chinese students in my Sunday class
are saying about the New Ethics of Integrity (NEI)
What is my Sunday class?
Almost every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, several Chinese students attend my "English Corner Class for the Curious." Some students are new each time. Others have returned and often bring a friend or family member with them. An interpreter is available to help the Chinese students and me understand each other.
New topic weekly
I lead the class interactively. Each week has a new topic. Some of the recent topics have been relationships between parents and children, how to say "no" and make requests, and how to deal with pressure.
What students learn
Although I focus on specific life problems of individual students, the underlying intent of the class is to provide the students with a beginning understanding and implementation of the New Ethics of Integrity and how it contrasts with the Old Ethics of Sacrifice, which we have all grown up inside of.
Participants have ranged in age from seven to eighty-two years old. Although surface problems may seem to vary according to age range, the students learn that the underlying principles of the class explain and apply to all life problems and issues, no matter what age or life circumstance.

This last Sunday (January 16, 2022) we had nine students. The young man, Michael Wang (a Beijing Opera actor), with his head half-hidden on the left, is my interpreter for the class. Smokie, my ragdoll cat is reluctantly participating in the photo. The students' age range is from university students to professionals to retirees.

Dwight is old, but young in heart. He has the mindset of a 30-something and the wisdom of a 100-year-old, and it's fun to visit and talk to him. It also teaches you to face life's stresses, anxieties, and fears. 初见Dwight老先生给我的第一印象就是“幽默风趣、充满智慧且还是个精神倍儿棒的爷爷”如果你目前遇到了学习、工作以及生活其他方面所带来的压力，我觉得你很有必要参加一次这样的活动，相信我 你在这简短地交流中会有不一样的收获。（和外国友人面对面交流是我一直想做的事情，但碍于自己口语不好迟迟不敢迈出这一步，如今，不够自信的我还是勇敢地迈出了第一步……前往Dwight家中拜访的各位小伙伴并非英语都很好，但他们认真学习的态度激励到了我（大家都别担心哈，全程都会有帅气小哥哥给翻译的呢，所以你用中文与他沟通无压力）虽然这是我第一次去拜访他，但这一次拜访我的收获颇多，我学会了释怀、学会了与自己和解、更学会了在面对困难的时候应该怎么去解决，也懂得只有把自己照顾好才能有更多可能性去照顾好身边的人，过去的我很注重做完一件事就想得到结果，但现在的我可能更多的是去享受做这件事的过程，给自己一些时间，可能不好的事情它也会有所好转！
