The Wise Know Less Than You Do

A smart man builds up knowledge, one brick upon bricks,

A wise man removes those ideas making you sick.

Not all that you “know” serves you well in your life,

Some “knowing” undone releases life’s strife.

The House of Good and Bad is where humanity dwells,

With “shoulds” and “should nots” casting you into hell.

With “right” and with “wrong” and with “fair” and “unfair,”

You fight with yourself, and you’re in despair.

It is not just a thought error coldly conceived,

It's an addiction to judgments that you deeply believe.

Those colored glasses enshroud you morning to night,

Disguised as assessments while they’re picking their fights.

By age six you've absorbed it and swallowed it whole,

The good and the bad took a toll on your soul.

Teachers who might have freed you were part of that game,

The ones you thought knew also stuck in that shame.

The wise man must undo what smart men have assumed,

Those toxic declarations bringing more doom and gloom.

The relativists and skeptics who claim there's no firm ground,

With their convoluted structures they pretend are profound

To live a great life you must unlearn what's untrue,

It's not about more knowledge, it’s about what’s true blue.

Byron Katie and Rosenberg have pointed the way,

But the deep source had remained unnamed ‘til today.

The House of Good and Bad is where humanity dwells,

With “shoulds” and “should nots” casting you into hell.

With “right” and with “wrong” and with “fair” and “unfair,”

You fight with yourself, and you’re in despair.

I got it!
