Chains of Deception

Chains of Deception

Chains of Deception

Upon the mirror’s silvered face, a shadowed truth remains,

A whispered voice of sweet embrace that binds in silent chains.

For what is left of light and grace when lies are draped so tight?

A prisoner within my mind, yet blind to wrong from right.

I swore I saw the path so clear, no veils before my eyes,

Yet, softly sung, my Now appeared, composed of sweet disguise.

It told me all would turn to gold, that fate would heed my call,

Yet every vow I left untold became my greatest fall.

The promise made, the oath so bold, yet written on the sand—

The tides of time would soon unfold the truth I could not stand.

I swore, I’d change, I’d rise anew, I’d shape my will, my way,

Yet knew not how the whispers grew to steal my soul away.

Oh, let me not with blinded gaze still chase my hollow dreams,

For lies, though soft, become a maze, and truth shall rip the seams.

To shatter self-deception’s art, to cast aside the chain—

I must embrace the darkest part, or live this lie in vain.
