It's Not About You

They say a word, you feel the blow,
Like arrows flying from friend or foe.
But pause a beat and you might see—
It’s not about you, it’s their debris.

We brace for war, when no war’s there,
Mistaking shadows for truths laid bare.
Their voice attacks what they think true,
But that mistaken self? That isn’t you.

It’s not about you, let fear pass through,
The peace you seek is found in you.
Don’t fight that ghost or you will rue—
It’s not about you. It’s just not true.

When you feel the sting, don’t defend,
That urge to prove won’t help or mend.
They said, “You jerk!” and then you cried,
Your false beliefs, they hurt your pride.

That reflex runs a looping song,
Old wiring’s been there way too long.
Let laughter flow, become divine,
With silly truths we’ll free your mind.

It’s not about you, let fear pass through,
The peace you seek is found in you.
Don’t fight that ghost or you will rue—
It’s not about you. It’s just not true.

Turn the light to your inward space,
Your self-worth there can’t be debased.
No need to chase how they perceive—
When the truth guides what you believe.
