A part of me wants “yes” with ease,
To give you what your heart would please.
You matter more than words can show,
But still, I feel I must say “no.”

I thought with care, and with review,
To chart a course of staying true.
So at this time, the truth to me
I’ll choose the best that I can see.

It’s not because you don’t deserve,
Or I don’t wish to bend or swerve.
But deep inside, I clearly see—
I must say “no” to care for me.

So please believe, I hear you well,
And wish that things were parallel.
But holding both our hearts in view,
This is the kindest I can do.

A part of me would love to bend,
But I must care for me, my friend.
I hope you see, I’ve done my best—
As I say “no” within a yes.

You showed me trust; I honor that.
You came with courage, not just chat.
I hope this doesn’t close the door—
But leaves respect, and maybe more.

A part of me would love to bend,
But I must care for me, my friend.
I hope you see, I’ve done my best—
As I say “no” within a yes.

I got it!
