Fundas: my daily life fundamentals

Life works better

My life becomes more efficient. I experience heightened positivity. My productivity increases. I'm loving the journey. I am more energized. I even experience the sensation of having an abundance of time. All these benefits are linked to my diligent adherence to my daily life fundamentals.

These fundamentals are tailored to fit me and my current life stage. On a weekly or biweekly basis, I might fine-tune the list of fundamental tasks to better accommodate any changes or new needs.

A collaboration between Now and Next

The development and ongoing customization of this 46-item task list is a continuous cooperation between my present self (Now) and my future self (Next). Even though this type of structure clearly appeals to Next, he consistently engages with Now and even double-checks with Now to confirm that Now is ready and willing to execute this daily array of tasks.

Recommendation

I certainly do not recommend you take on this particular set of daily tasks. Although some of them might fit for you, all of them won't. My intention is that, through understanding the whys and hows of my Fundas, it will suggest to you ideas to create a structure in your life that would be a collaboration between your Now and your Next and help create a life that you're even more in love with.

Legend

Column #1 is the task.

Column #2 is either "0" or "1" indicating if the task has been done yet.

Column #3 is a time stamp (which I am able to created with a cmd-shift-; on my Mac). On the rows #2 and #48, I enter other values there. On row #1 I enter the time I arose (1:45 am in this example) rather than time stamp it with the current time since it was actually 2:58 am before I actually created this fresh Fundas column for the current date (in this example)

Column #2 is calculated automatically according to whether column #3 is non-empty: =IF(D2>0,1,0).

The last cell shown here of column #2 is a total of the tasks so far completed in the day.

Note: the fifth column simply shows the records for the day before, if I care to look back. Also, I called it a 46-item task list even though there are 49 items because I alternate tasks 42-44 with 45-47, depending on whether it's Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday, leaving 46 tasks each day.

What each task means to me: why it's important

Note: many important items are not on this list... many things that I do on all or most days are not on this task list. I know that I don't need to create this tracking game enter to ensure that they're done. One such item, for example, is adding a new topics regularly to AskDwightHow, which this is an instance of. These is something I know will happen regardless of any such support structure.

Note: what is the date following each task... although I have been doing many of these tasks for a long time, this was either the date when I started this list more formally or the actual date when I decided to track this task as one of my Fundas.

  1. Arise 2:00 AM (7/22/22)

    1. This is just an "awareness task."

    2. I enter my wakeup time each day. Generally, my alarm is set for 2:00 am, but I often wake up before then since, with my general policy to have lights off before 6:00 pm the evening before, I wake up before eight hours of sleep. I do allow for nap times during the day.

  2. Weigh (12/31/22)

    1. This also is an "awareness task," just to make a note of what my morning weight was.

  3. Fundas Setup (8/9/22)

    1. In my Google Sheets for my Fundas, I create a new column to save the previous day's Fundas results and create a new column with empty cells for my current day.

  4. The Perfect Plan (5/24/23)

    1. As with Fundas, I save the previous day's records of my Perfect Plan in Google Sheets and create the template for planning the current day.
