Five-Minute Trial

Let’s see how it goes—just five at the start,
A moment of peace to open the heart.
Now feels the drag, but Next has a plan,
To gently begin where progress began.

A child within, Now wants to stay,
Wrapped in the warmth of comfort’s delay.
But give it a taste, a soft little try—
A deal that allows both wings to fly.

Just five minutes, no need to commit,
If it still feels wrong, we’ll call it and quit.
But often in motion, a spark can ignite—
The hardest of hills begins with slight height.

Whether it’s sorting receipts in a stack,
Or lacing up shoes for a jog 'round the track,
Or browsing through profiles with hope and cheer,
Five minutes can shift the mood into gear.

Now's a toddler, stubborn but sweet,
Next must kneel and speak with no heat.
A trial’s a truce, not a trick or a shove—
It's partnership built on mutual love.

Just five minutes, no need to commit,
If it still feels wrong, we’ll call it and quit.
But often in motion, a spark can ignite—
The hardest of hills begins with slight height.

After that five, if we want we can stop,
Curl back in bed, letting all effort drop.
For Next may learn from Now's quiet plea—
That rest is part of productivity.

The deal’s not to finish but merely to try,
And more often than not, the minutes fly by.
Respecting your Now can open the door
To days that hold joy in doing much more.
